Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 August 2026

This policy covers the Android application Speech Notes (com.stevenmarp.speech_notes), published by Nevdigital.

What we collect

Nothing. Speech Notes does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data with the developer or with any third party. There is no account, no sign-in, and no user profile.

Microphone

Speech Notes requests the RECORD_AUDIO permission. The microphone is activated only while you are actively transcribing — after you tap the microphone button, and until you tap stop or leave the screen. It is never used in the background and never used while the app is closed.

Speech Notes does not record, save, or upload audio files. Your voice is passed to your device's speech recognition service, converted to text, and discarded. No audio recording is written to storage at any point.

Speech recognition is performed by your device

Speech Notes does not run its own speech recognition and does not operate any server. It uses the speech recognition service built into your Android device, which on most phones is provided by Google.

This matters for your privacy: when Offline mode is switched off, that system service may send your speech to its provider's servers for processing. That transmission is made by the Android system service, not by Speech Notes, and is governed by your device provider's own privacy policy — for Google devices, the Google Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Switching Offline mode on asks the system to recognise speech entirely on the device. Availability depends on your Android version and on whether an offline language pack is installed. On-device recognition is usually less accurate, which is why the setting is off by default.

Your transcripts stay on your device

Folders and transcripts are saved in the app's private storage on your device. They are not backed up to us, not synced, and not readable by other apps. Uninstalling Speech Notes deletes them permanently. Deleting a folder inside the app removes it immediately.

No internet access from the app

Speech Notes does not request the Android internet permission and cannot itself make network requests. It has no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking or crash-reporting libraries.

Permissions

No other permission is requested. Copying a transcript writes to your clipboard only when you tap the copy button.

Children

Speech Notes is not directed at children. Because no data is collected from anyone, no data is collected from children either.
